Methodology
The methodology represents the core of the WingSpread solution. Our methodology incorporates academic research into the use of skills-based analysis melded with field experience with corporations through executing recruiting and corporate strategy consulting engagements.
The foundation of the WingSpread methodology is the skills taxonomy, called the WingSpread Global Skills Genome. This Global Genome encapsulates the entire corpus of skills that can be found in an organization across many companies and many industries.

From this Global Genome, an organization specific Genome is developed that captures the essence of that organization, and can be expanded upon as the organization grows and changes. Through our methodology, organizations create their Position Profiles, Individual Profiles, and Skills Repository, which in turn lead to Development Plans that guide the organization in addressing skills gaps across various levels in the organization.
Our methodology incorporates four specific steps, each one building upon the previous step of the process.
| Step | Process | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Analyze | Analyze the organization specific goals -> tasks -> skills taxonomy | Position Profiles |
| Sequence | Collect skills across the organization and external candidates via web assessment tool | Individual Profiles |
| Map | Map skills and maintain centralized database of future candidates | Skills Repository |
| Develop | Review gaps and design development plans to address those gaps | Development Plans |
The end result of this process is the Development Plan which is the key output of the methodology. The Development Plan provides organizations with the insight into addressing human capital challenges and achieving corporate goals by clearly illuminating gaps in skills and in the levels of skillfulness.
